Note: Use a brick made of natural earth elements or a copper stand to support the pot.  Using paper or cardboard will emanate its own gaseous and that means adding impurities into the subtle healing energies of Agnihotra.  Using a glass or porcelain base will certain break as it won't withstand the heat from the fire in the pot.

Cow Dung Patties

100% Beeswax Candles

If you prefer using a candle to light up the starter cow patty, it is highly recommended that you use a beeswax candle rather than a paraffin candle.  The former burns cleaner compared to the latter which is known to create toxic fumes, that's because paraffin is a byproduct of the oil industry, while beeswax occurs naturally and there are no other synthetic ingredients involved.

REMEMBER: Never blow out your candle.  Extinguish the flame using the copper tongs by pinching the candle wick.  When you blow, you are introducing your saliva to the elements. We are looking to eliminate as much impurity as possible from elements used for the process..  In other words keeping it as pure as possible.

You may purchase beeswax candles on-line and have them delivered to you at your Singapore-based home address. Or you may collect them at their office at International Plaza. Size: approx. 10cm (height) by 3.5cm (diameter).

NOTE:  You can only purchase these candles online and not over the counter.  However, you may collect them at their office.

Ghee Lamp

This is a very inexpensive method to light up.  You may purchase a small ghee lamp (about 2 inches in diameter) made from earth elements and 4 short strands of cotton wicks, all at a cost of S$0.70.  These can be purchased from most Indian provision stores in HDB areas.

IMPORTANT:  Use a match stick and not a gas lighter that we use at the kitchen stove.  And extinguish the flame using the copper tongs provided with your Agnihtora kit.

100% Pure Ghee Grass-Fed

In Singapore we discovered that ghee labeled as 100% pure ghee and sold in supermarkets are not necessarily that.  One particular brand that's used in most households is found to be adulterated with buffalo milk and palm oil.

The Homa Therapy teachers from Agnihotra Australia highly recommend that we make our own ghee at home from grass-fed cow butter or organic unsalted butter that we can trust.  Alternatively purchase organic ghee made from cow's milk.

Learn how you can make your own homemade ghee from grass-fed butter suitable for vegetarians in your own kitchen. We can recommend: Kerrygold Irish Butter Unsalted as it's made from milk of grass-fed cows.

The recipe, clear instructions, and lots of photos are provided on this website, which we find very helpful and comprehensive too:

http://thehealthyfoodie.com/homemade-ghee/

From personal experience, using the instructions in the link above, it took 20-24 minutes to cook ghee from 700gms of butter on the stove in Singapore.

Where to buy organic ghee in Singapore:

Brown Rice Paradise

#02-35 Tanglin Mall, 163 Tanglin Road, Singapore

Telephone: 67381121

There are four brands available (see images).

Price range: S$30 - S$35 a bottle

Weight range: 212gms - 300gms

Agnihotra Mantras

You can listen to the mantras on the mp3 CD that accompanies the Agnihtora Kit when you purchase it from Kampung Senang.

At Sunrise:

sooryáya swáhá, sooryáya idam na mama

(after the word swáhá, add the first portion of rice/ghee into the fire)

prajápataye swáhá, prajápataye idam na mama

(after the word swáhá, add the second portion of rice/ghee into the fire)

This completes morning Agnihotra.

At Sunset:

agnaye swáhá, agnaye idam na mama

(after the word swáhá, add the first portion of rice/ghee into the fire)

prajápataye swáhá, prajápataye idam na mama

(after the word swáhá, add the second portion of rice/ghee into the fire)

This completes evening Agnihotra.

Rice

Uncooked, unbroken organic unpolished brown rice is used for Agnihotra.  You may purchase this easily from grocery stores and supermarkets.

Do not use red or black rice or polished white rice.
